The Utah State Aggies and BYU Cougars will play Friday night at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The Utah State Aggies have had a couple of weeks to figure things out on the offensive end and put the loss to Arkansas State behind them. With the injury to Chuckie Keeton, Utah State is really struggling to move the ball with Darell Garretson under center, as he’s completing 61.3 percent of his passes for three touchdowns and two interceptions. Utah State has scored a combined 21 points in their first two road games and are getting very little production out of their running game, as wide receiver JoJo Natson leads the way with 158 yards on 17 carries. Utah State has been held to 145 or less rushing yards in three of their four games and have lost five of their last seven games when that’s the case. Receiver Hunter Sharp has 268 receiving yards in his last two games and needs to continue giving the Aggies a spark. Defensively, the Utah State Aggies are allowing 25.8 points, 334.8 yards, and have forced 11 turnovers and 13 sacks. Nick Vigil leads Utah State with 40 tackles and Daniel Gray has four pass deflections.

The BYU Cougars are undefeated and have a Heisman potential quarterback in Taysom Hill. Hill is completing 66.1 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and three interceptions, while also leading BYU with 428 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. BYU is 12-1 SU in their last 13 games when Taysom Hill scores at least two total touchdowns. The Cougars really go as far as Hill takes them, but running back Jamaal Williams has 296 rushing yards and three touchdowns in three games while Jordan Leslie has caught 17 passes in his last three games. BYU is 27th in the country in rushing yards per game. Defensively, the BYU Cougars are allowing 18.8 points, 364.3 yards, and have forced eight turnovers and nine sacks. Alani Fua leads BYU with four tackles for loss and Jherremya Leuta-Douyere has two forced fumbles.
The Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Cougars are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. MWC and 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall. Aggies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings, while the underdog is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
These two programs have a little history and two of the last three meetings have been decided by three points. I know what the BYU Cougars are capable of and have them a lot higher than most in my power rankings. However, I get the feeling that 21 points is too much to lay here against a Utah State team that usually wakes up for matchups like this. I'll take the dog here considering it's dominated this series.
