USA TODAY Sports
The Appalachian State Mountaineers fell to 1-3 on the season after dropping a 34-14 decision at Georgia Southern in week five. The Eagles rushing attack controlled this one with over 400 yards while the Mountaineers totaled 330 with a few mistakes and bad decisions costing them points. While Georgia Southern moved the chains with their option, ASU had zero luck on the ground with 74 yards on 22 tries. Appy State turned to quarterback Taylor Lamb who completed 23-42 for 256 yards with a pair of interceptions which cost the team on the scoreboard. Everytime the Mountaineers seemed to threaten a mistake or poor play calling would kill the drive.
I seem to always be wary of Appalachian State but I believe if South Alabama can provide some adequate scoring then their defense will control the scoreboard...
