Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and the East Carolina Pirates face the Southern Methodist Mustangs Saturday.
The Southern Methodist Mustangs fell to 0-4 on the season following a 56-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Texas Christian. The Mustangs have struggled to move the ball and get stops and that trnd continued with TCU rolling up a 614-245 edge in yardage. The Horned Frogs were able to run and throw effectively as they were never challenged. SMU desperately needed a rushing game to milk the clock and keep the TCU offense on the sideline but nine players ran 45 times and failed to crack the 100 yard barrier. Quarterback Garrett Krstich couldn't move the chains through the air on 14-32 completions for 142 yards with a pick. Throw in a pair of lost fumbles and the scoreboard is easily explained.

The East Carolina Pirates have had an extra week to enjoy their 70-41 pounding of instate rival North Carolina. The first quarter was close but once the Pirates got going offensively they never stopped. ECU racked up 787 yards and 39 first downs with dominating rushing and passing attacks. Shane Carden completed 30-48 for 438 yards with four touchdowns and an interception with Trevon Brown leading the Pirates with 117 yards on five catches and two TD's while Isaiah Jones snagged eight balls for 116 yards and another score. Breon Allen provided the muscle in East Carolina's ground attack with 211 yards on 18 touches with a pair of trips to the endzone.
Of course the spread is huge which I expected so the question is whether East Carolina goes hard for 60 minutes or not...
