The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders welcome the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles to town in week six action.
The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles have an air of improvement surrounding them but still didn't have enough firepower in a 41-23 defeat at the hands of visiting Rice in week five. The Owls approached 400 yards and limited USM to 323 yards and took took advantage of three turnovers. In the end the Golden Eagles struggled to move the chains on the ground with George Payne posting 40 yards on ten totes with a TD being the only runner of note. The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders came up with big performances on both sides of the ball in a 41-28 win at Old Dominion. The Blue Raiders held the high powered Monarchs to just over 400 yards while recording three interceptions and recovering a fumble. MTSU led 24-7 after 30 minutes behind equally effective running and passing with Austin Grammer enjoying a near perfect 25-30 night for 259 yards with a pair of touchdowns including a 53 yard strike to Marcus Henry.
