The San Diego State Aztecs look for a road win at the New Mexico Lobos in week seven.
The San Diego Aztecs will be asking their defense to carry most of the load with quarterback Quinn Kaehler out with a shoulder injury. The D did a decent enough job in a 24-13 defeat at Fresno State but the offense never got going. The Bulldogs were held to 315 yards and gave the ball away twice but that was still a notch above the Aztecs 270 yards and three giveaways. Freshman quarterback Nick Bawden struggled through a 9-24 effort for 84 yards with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions. Donnel Pumphrey gave SDSU 94 yards on 24 carries but the Fresno State defense made certain the run was not going to beat them.

The New Mexico Lobos picked up their second win of the season in impressive fashion in a 21-9 victory at Texas-San Antonio as a 17 point underdog. The Roadrunners led this one 9-0 in the third before the Lobos ended the game on a 21-0 run. Defense and the UNM ground attack prevailed with 283 rushing yards at six yards per try while UTSA was held to 341 yards and a pair of turnovers. Lamar Jordan gave the Lobos some quality yards in the air with a 7-11 effort for 72 yards but he was especially deadly on the ground with 106 yards on nine totes with a TD. Jhurell Pressley was just as strong with 102 yards on five carries including a 77 yard scoring jaunt. This was the first time the defense showed some muscle against a decent UTSA club.
Before I can make an educated decision in this I want to look at what is going on with the Aztecs quarterback situation. For now I'll take the touchdown but please check back on game day...
