The Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks face off in Lexington on Saturday in NCAA Football action.
The Kentucky Wildcats are off to a 4-1 start this season and are two wins away from being bowl eligible. The UK offense is averaging 34.2 points per game and QB Patrick Towles has completed 63.4 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and four interceptions and he has rushed for 112 yards and two TD’s. Jojo Kemp and Braylon Heard are the Kentucky ground attack with Kemp averaging 5.7 yards per carry with four touchdowns and Heard averaging 8.1 yards per carry. Ryan Timmons has 25 catches and Demarco Robinson and Garrett Johnson each have 13 catches. The Kentucky defense needs to improve as they are allowing 19.6 points per game with nine interceptions, 11 sacks, and four fumble recoveries. Josh Forrest leads the Cats with 41 tackles, Khalid Henderson has 29 tackles, and Jason Hatcher has 4.5 sacks. Kentucky will need to avoid the let down after last week’s emotional win.
USA TODAY Sports
The UL Monroe Warhawks are 2-3 for the season losing two of their last three games. ULM is averaging just 18.2 points per game with QB Pete Thomas completing 56.9 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Centarius Donald is averaging 4.3 yards a carry to pace the ground game while Rashon Ceasar has 30 receptions and Kenzee Jackson has 24 receptions. ULM’s defense is allowing 24 points per game with six interceptions, 19 sacks, and three fumble recoveries. Mitch Lane leads the Warhawks with 40 tackles, Gerrard Johnson has 36 tackles including four sacks, and Hunter Kissinger has 35 tackles. ULM will need to get the offense moving to have a chance in this one.
Kentucky 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 4-13 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. ULM is 2-5 against the spread following a loss, 0-4 against the spread in their last four games, and 1-4 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread.
While ULM has struggled to score I can see where Kentucky could be looking past them especially coming off of such a big so I am going to take the points.
