The Boston College Eagles travel to North Carolina to play the Wolfpack on Saturday.
Boston College dropped to 3-2 on the year after losing to Colorado State at home 24-21 two weeks ago. The Eagles suffered their other loss to Pittsburgh, while beating UMass, USC, and Maine in their other contests. Boston College is averaging 29.6 points per game led by senior QB Tyler Murphy. Murphy has thrown for 660 yards to go along with 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Murphy has also led the team in rushing with 579 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Eagles are ranked 6th in rushing yards per game, averaging 316 yards per game as a team. Senior WR Josh Bordner leads the team in receiving with 13 catches for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. Boston College doesn’t pass that ball that often and they rank 121st in passing yards, averaging 133 a game. The Eagles defense has played well this year, giving up an average of 20 points per game, which ranks 28th in the country. The Eagles will have had two weeks to prepare for their second road game of the year.

North Carolina State dropped to 4-2 on the season after losing in Death Valley to Clemson 41-0 last Saturday. The Wolfpack have lost two straight after winning their first four games over Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, South Florida, and Presbyterian. NC State lost to Florida State in a shootout two weeks ago. The Wolfpack are averaging over 33 points per game. NC State has a solid rushing attack this year, averaging 212 yards per game on the ground as a team. Junior RB Shadrach Thornton leads the team in rushing with 407 yards and 7 touchdowns, while RB Matt Dayes is second best with 287 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior QB Jacoby Brissett has thrown for 1,399 yards along with 13 touchdowns and only 1 interception. Freshman Bo Hines has a team-high 24 catches for 312 yards and 1 touchdown, whiles Dayes has 19 catches for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Wolfpack. The Wolfpack defense has been mediocre this year, allowing an average of over 28 points per game. North Carolina State will be at home for this one; the Wolfpack are 3-1 at home this season.
Boston College will have had plenty of time to prepare for the Wolfpack after having a bye last weekend. Meanwhile, North Carolina State would like to put their blowout loss behind them and bounce back at home. The Wolfpack will have to stop Murphy and the Eagles rushing attack, while Boston College will have to contain Brissett and the Wolfpack offense. This should be a competitive game and it may be decided on the last possession of the game. Having said that, I’m going to side with the road dog in this one and take the points.
