The Line: Boston College Eagles +5 -- Over/Under: 47 See the Latest Odds
The Clemson Tigers travel to Boston College to play the Eagles at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Clemson Tigers are 4-2 after beating Louisville at home 23-17 last weekend. The Tigers have won three straight games after losing at Florida State in overtime back in September. The Tigers have beaten the likes of S. Carolina State, North Carolina, NC State, and now Louisville. Clemson has fallen short against two solid teams to say the least in Georgia and Florida State. The Tigers are allowing and average of 21.2 points per game of defense, which ranks 35th in the country. In the Tigers last 2 wins they shutout NC State and only gave up 17 points to the Cardinals. The Clemson offense is averaging an impressive 37.5 points per game, which ranks 25th in the country. The Tigers are averaging 306 yards thru the air and 141 yards on the ground this season. Freshman QB Deshaun Watson has played great for the Tigers this yea, but unfortunately he will miss at least a month after suffering a finger injury last week. Senior QB Cole Stoudt will step in for the Tigers; he has thrown for 649 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions this year. Stoudt has limited experience in college, throwing for 1,391 yards with 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in his career. Sophomore WR Mike Williams will be Stoudt’s main target, hauling in 22 balls for 543 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. Freshman RB Adam Choice will have to step up in Watson’s absence; he has rushed for 205 yards and 1 touchdowns this season. This will mark the third road game for the Tigers; Clemson lost both of their road games at Georgia and Florida State earlier this season.

The Boston College Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season after beating NC State on the road 30-14 last weekend. The Eagles have taken down the likes of UMass, USC, Maine, and now the Wolfpack. Boston College has lost to Pittsburgh and Colorado State so far this season. The Eagles are allowing 19.3 points per game on average this season, which ranks 22nd in the country. In three of the Eagles wins they allowed only 7, 10, and 14 points to their opponents. Having said that, with the exception of USC, the Eagles have not played well against superior competition this season. The Boston College offense is putting up an average of 29.7 points per game. The Eagles are averaging only 127 passing yards and a whopping 315 rushing yards per contest. The offense centers around Senior QB Tyler Murphy who has only thrown for 761 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, Murphy has carried the ball 86 times for 711 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Eagles will host their fifth home game of the year on Saturday.
Clemson earned a victory last week despite losing their starting quarterback early in the game. Boston College has taken care of business against lesser opponents, but has struggled against the elite in the ACC. Even though Stoudt is a senior, he lacks experience and I’m not sure I can trust Clemson on the road without Watson. The Tigers may get the win, but I’m taking Boston College to cover the spread as a home dog.
