The Central Michigan Chippewas have been a slow starting team the past few years that finished the season strong. The Chips are trying to avoid that scenario and took a step in that direction with a 34-17 victory over confertence power Northern Illinois on the road in week seven action. CMU had equal success on the ground or in the air with 552 total yards while the defense allowed 341 yards while eliminating the Huskies ability to run. Thomas Rawls paced the Chippewas on the ground with 270 yards on 40 carries with five yard and 13 yard scoring runs. The CMU air attack was just as potent with Cooper Rush connecting on 20-31 for 269 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception with Jesse Kroll posting six catches for 97 yards and a score.
The 1-5 Cardinals are 2-4 ATS overall and have defeated Central Michigan four consecutive times. The under is 6-1 in the Cardinals last seven contests on fieldturf and 6-1 in the past seven contests overall. The under is 8-0 in the Chippewas last eight games after a SU win while also going 4-0 ATS versus a team with a losing record. In head to head match ups the road team is 6-1 ATS with Ball State going 5-1 ATS in the last six visits to Central Michigan.
Central Michigan was banged up and seems to be getting healthy while Ball State is the team with some injuries. I favor the Chippewas at a touchdown but this could get hairy if Milas goes wild. Let's not forget that the Cardinals have played well in this match up but for now I'm looking the other way...
