The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travel to North Carolina to play the Tar Heels on Saturday night at Kenan Stadium.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets dropped their first game of the season 31-25 at home to Duke and are now 5-1 on the season. The Yellow Jackets beat Wofford, Tulane, Georgia Southern, Virginia Tech, and Miami to start the season with a perfect 5-0 record. The Yellow Jackets played a tough game against Duke but came up just short in the end. Georgia Tech is allowing 25 points per game on defense, while they average 33 points a game on offense. The Yellow Jackets average only 144 yards passing per game, but they average a whopping 294 yards rushing per game, which ranks 8th in the country. Sophomore QB Justin Thomas has thrown for 724 yards with 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Thomas has also rushed for 589 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Zach Laskey has performed well with 521 yards rushing and 3 scores. This will be the Yellow Jackets third road game of the year; Georgia Tech defeated Tulane and Virginia Tech on the road so far this year.

North Carolina dropped to 2-4 on the year after losing at Notre Dame 50-43 last weekend. The Tar Heels won their first two games of the season against Liberty and San Diego State. Following the two wins, North Carolina was beat up by East Carolina, Clemson, and Virginia Tech. The Tar Heels are allowing a terrible 43.3 points per game, which ranks 127th in the country. North Carolina is averaging 37.2 points per game, which ranks 27th in the nation. The Tar Heels average 285 passing yards and 146 rushing yards per game. Junior QB Marquise Williams has thrown for 1,386 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Williams has also rushed for 375 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sophomore WR Mack Hollins leads all receivers with 21 catches for 389 yards and 4 touchdowns. North Carolina will play their fourth home game of the year; the Tar Heels are 2-1 at home this season.
This should be a high scoring game as both teams put up huge numbers on offense. The difference in this game is that North Carolina’s defense is awful. Georgia Tech should be able to slow down the Tar Heels enough to get the win. Meanwhile, North Carolina will have no answer for the Yellow Jackets rushing attack. This line is off due to the Tar Heels solid performance against Notre Dame last week. I think Georgia Tech will win by two touchdowns and will score 40 plus points on the road.
