The Ohio Bobcats welcome the Akron Zips to Peden Stadium in an instate and conference tilt.
The Akron Zips and winning have not been used in the same sentence very often but the Zips have won three in a row following a 29-19 victory over Miami (Ohio) Saturday and are probably a tea the conference powers would prefer not to see. Akron never trailed although the Redhawks won the yardage battle 412-318 as quarterback Andrew Hendrix tagged the Akron secondary with 352 passing yards and three TD's. The Zips passing attack wasn't as productive with Kyle Pohl throwing for 103 yards and Tommy Woodson adding 64. The Akron running attack packed a little more punch behind 102 yards and a pair of scores from Jawon Chisholm with Conor Hundley adding 64. The game in a nutshell came down to the Zips making a few more plays to put points on the scoreboard while the Redhawks struggled to make game changing plays.

The Ohio Bobcats have dropped back to back contests following a 31-13 defeat at the hands of visiting Bowling Green. This was never competitive with the Falcons leading 21-6 at the half even though Ohio held a healthy 513-355 advantage in total yards. Neither team had a viable rushing attack with Ohio held to under 75 yards. The air attack was quite productive with JD Sprague connecting on 27-56 for 325 yards and amazingly no touchdowns. Ten players caught passes and nine ran the ball but despite losing a pair of fumbles Ohio should have found the endzone a few times. This was the Bobcats best offensive outing of the season as far as yardage is concerned and when your offense racks up over 500 yards one would expect a healthy number on the scoreboard which obviously didn't happen with 13 points.
The under is 12-0 in the Zips last 12 road games while they are 1-6 ATS with less then 170 yards of passing in their previous game and 2-14 ATS in the last 14 games where they allowed less then 100 yards rushing in the previous game. Ohio is 0-6 ATS in the last six versus a team with a winning record while going 1-4 ATS in the last five after gaining more then 450 yards in their previous game with the under going 8-1-1 in the last ten versus a team with a winning record. Head to head the Zips are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings with the under going 4-1 in the last five while the under is 5-1 in the last six at Ohio.
The glaring issue for Akron is quarterback Kyle Pohl received a concussion last week against Miami (Ohio) which is a big loss if he can't play. The Bobcats have a ton of injuries so needless to say I don't know who will or won't play. I'm leaning to Akron and possibly the under but check the lineups on game day...
