The Troy Trojans play host to the Appalachian State Mountaineers at Veterans Memorial Stadium Saturday.
The struggling Appalachian State Mountaineers fell to 1-5 on the season in a 55-48 overtime loss to sub division Liberty. Neither team played defense with the Mountaineers amassing 627 yards in whatever maner they chose while the Flames piled up 501 yards with 356 coming through the air. iberty won the turnover batle 4-2 which was the difference between winning and losing. Tyler Lamb threw for 497 yards with 48, 60 and 63 yards touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. ASU was potent on the ground as well with Terrence Upshaw and Marcus Cox combining for 213 yards with 60 yard and 38 yard scoring jaunts respectively.

The Troy Trojans picked up their first win of the season in a 41-24 victory over mistake prone New Mexico State. The Trojans had no problem moving the chains with 571 yards and the ability to both run and throw. On the flip side the Aggies moved the ball with 395 yards but were unable to hold on to the ball with four turnovers. Brandon Silvers connected on 23-30 for 211 yards with a touchdown and interception and added 70 yards on the ground. Brandon Burks exploded for 176 rushing yards on just ten carries while Chandler Worthy got the special teams in the act with an 89 yard kick return.
The Trojans have done nothing in 2014 until Larry Blakeney announces his retirement and suddenly they play well. We'll see what happens this week but Troy is actually the better team here so...
