The USC Trojans and the Colorado Buffaloes face off on Saturday in Pac-12 college football action.
The USC Trojans have had a wild year but they are coming off of a big win on the road that ended Arizona’s winning streak and unbeaten record. USC’s offense is averaging 32.2 points per game and 451.2 yards led by QB Cody Kessler who has completed 69.1 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and just one interception. Javorius Allen has found his grove in the backfield leading the Trojans with a 5.8 yards per carry average and seven touchdowns while catching 23 passes. Nelson Agholor leads Southern Cal in receiving with 42 caches and four touchdowns. The USC defense is loaded with stars allowing 22.3 points per game with seven interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and 11 sacks. Defensive captain Hayes Pullard leads USC in tackles with 44, Gerald Bowman has 43, and Leonard Williams has 38 with four sacks and an interception. Only one of USC’s losses is in the Pac-12 so they are still in the chase for the championship game.
USA TODAY Sports
The Colorado Buffaloes have lost three of their last four games and all of the losses have been against Pac-12 teams with the win coming against Hawaii. Colorado lost by five last time out against Oregon State and lost by three in overtime prior to that against Cal. CU QB Seifo Liufau has completed 65.3 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Colorado’s rushing attack has been lacking as Christian Powell is averaging just 54.8 yards per game and Tony Jones 32.2 yards. The Colorado receivers have been strong with Nelson Spruce having 62 catches and 10 touchdowns and Shay Fields having 33 receptions. The Colorado defense is allowing 419 yards per game with three fumble recoveries, 13 sacks, and two interceptions. Addison Gillam has 52 tackles, Tedric Thompson as 43 tackles, and Derek McCartney has four sacks. Colorado is improving but they still have a ways to go.
USC is 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 Pac-12 games, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games, and 1-4 against the spread following a win. Colorado is 5-1 against the spread in their last six Pac-12 games, 9-19 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 17-37 against the spread in their last 54 road games.
Colorado has been playing their games close but they are outmanned here by USC who just has way too much talent.
