The Line: Wake Forest Demon Deacons +4 -- Over/Under: TBA See the Latest Odds
The Syracuse Orange travel to Wake Forest to play the Demon Deacons on Saturday afternoon.
Syracuse dropped to 2-4 on the year after losing to Florida State at home 38-20 last weekend. The Orange won their first two games of the season against Villanova and Central Michigan. Since then, Syracuse has dropped four straight games to Maryland, Notre Dame, Louisville, and now Florida State. The Orange lost all four games by at least 14 points and did not score over 20 points in any of the losses. Syracuse’s defense is allowing an average of 26.7 points per game, which ranks 72nd in the country. In the Orange’s four straight losses they have given up 34, 31, 28, and 38 points. Syracuse’s offense is averaging only 21.3 points per game, with an average of 221 yards thru the air and 190 yards on the ground this season. Against Florida State, backup quarterback Austin Wilson and A.J. Long took over for injured starter Terrel Hunt, out 4-6 weeks with a broken calf bone. The two quarterbacks combined for 256 yards passing with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. WR Steve Ishamel caught 3 balls for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns, while RB Prince-Tyson Gulley rushed for 80 yards. Syracuse will now head out on the road for their second game away from home this season.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons dropped to 2-4 on the season after losing at Florida State 43-3 two weeks ago. The Demon Deacons have lost two straight after losing on the road at Louisville the week prior to losing against the Seminoles. Wake Forest is allowing an average of 24 points per game and the defense is definitely the best unit the Demon Deacons have right now. The Wake Forest offense is terrible, averaging only 15.7 points per game. The Demon Deacons are averaging just 181 yards passing and 31 yards rushing per game, which rank 105th and 128th in the country this season. Freshman QB John Wofford has thrown for 1,063 yards and 6 touchdowns. The leading rushed is senior RB Orville Reynolds, who has rushed for only 143 yards this season, while freshman TE Cam Serigne leads all receivers with 29 grabs for 282 yards. Wake Forest has lost all four games on the road this year, and they will be happy to be back at home for three straight games coming up.
These two teams are at the bottom of the ACC when it comes to just about everything. Syracuse and Wake Forest have decent defenses, but their offenses lack experience, depth, and the ability to produce big plays. This game will not be very exciting and the total points scored might not reach 30. Having said that, I’m going to take the home dog to cover, if not win.
