The East Carolina Pirates hope to stay unbeaten in the AAC when the Connecticut Huskies visit in week nine.
Offensive struggles have proven very costly for the Connecticut Huskies in 2014 and hurt them once again in a 12-3 defeat at Tulane Saturday for loss number four in a row. Neither team moved the chains with reguarity with the Green Wave holding a 302-217 advantage in total yards. Wit both defenses putting the clamps down the Huskies three turnovers stood out even more. UConn never established the run with Arkeel Newsome and Ron Johnson combining for 75 yards on 29 carries for barely ore then two yards per touch. Chandler Whitmer was the focus of the Green Wave defense but Tulane was content to let the underneath throws go while preventing anything from getting downfield. Whitmer connected on 17-24 for 144 yards but nothing deep to stretch the field.

The East Carolina Pirates have been riding an above average offense and a decent defense to a 5-1 record and a share of the AAC lead with Central Florida. ThePirates overcame a tougher then expected challenge at South Florida before pulling away for a 28-17 victory heading in to their bye week. The numbers say this one was probably not as close as the scoreboard indicated with a 481-350 edge in yardage with plenty of balance while the Bulls were one dimensional with a pass only attack. Shane Carden gave ECU 250 passing yards with an interception and 35 yard touchdown strike to Breon Allen. Allen paced the ground game with 124 yards on 18 touches with a trip to the endzone whilr the Pirates received ten catches and 114 yards from Justin Hardy.
Under is 5-0 in the Huskies last five games following a SU win and are 0-5 ATS in their past five contests on grass while Connecticut is 0-5 ATS in their last five games after rushing for less then 100 yards in their previous game. To over is 6-0 in East Carolina's last six games at home with the over going 4-0 in the past four home games versus a team with a losing record while the Pirates are 6-1 ATS in their last six home games. No head to head numbers but Connecticut is 0-6 ATS and East Carolina is 4-2 ATS.
East Carolina is a huge favorite as expected at home and if they perform for 60 minutes they cover. The Huskies need to run and burn clock and can't turn the ball over or they will be in a bad spot Going with the Pirates but check back later on game day for any changes...
