The Line: Ball State Cardinals +1 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Ball State Cardinals shoot for back to back wins when the Akron Zips visit Scheumann Stadium.
The Akron Zips had a golden opportunity to extend their winning streak to four games but a mistake filled 23-20 loss at Ohio ended the good times. Yardage was even with the Bobcats able to do a little running and throwing while the Zips were much more one dimensional with a pass only attack. The Akron ground game totaled less then 90 yards and 3 1/2 yards per carry so the focus of moving the chains fell to the right arm of Tommy Woodson who connected on 23-45 for 268 yards with touchdowns to Conor Hundley and Zach D'Orazio while tossing a pair of interceptions. D'Orazio paced the Zips receivers with nine catches for 117 yards but the bright spots were few and far between with Akron turning the ball over three times and being whistled for ten penalties.

The Ball State Cardinals survived a late Central Michigan rally to upend the Chippewas 32-29 to snap a five game slide. Scott Secor blasted a 55 yard field goal with 17 seconds remaining to win a game that CMU appeared to have won in most areas except where it counted. The Cardinals were outgained 426-287 but were opportunistic in winning the turnover battle 5-1. rds were difficult to come by on the ground with Jahwan Edwards producing 98 yards on 32 carries with touchdowns of one yard and seven yards. The Cardinals had some success through the air behind the short passing game of Jack Milas who connected on 21-38 for 198 yards with a 40 yard touchdown strike to KeVonn Mabon who caught seven balls for 99 yards. Even though Ball State didn't move up and down the field they totaled 24 first downs and made the Chips pay for their mistakes.
Akron is 0-4 ATS in their last four games on fieldturf and 0-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record while going 0-4 ATS in their last four games in October. he Cardinals are 0-4 ATS in their past four games following an ATS win and are 0-4 ATS in their last four home contests. Ball State is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games after rushing for less then 100 yards in their previous game. Head to head the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings. I favor Akron in basically a pick 'em because they still have postseason hopes. I don't know if Kyle Pohl is cleared to play after suffering a concussion but I say probably not or the spread would be bigger but even without him Akron has the better team in my eyes...
