The Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Nebraska Cornhuskers will play a Big Ten matchup Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are coming off a blowout loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes and are hoping to get their offense on track. Rutgers has lost six straight games when scoring 24 or less points. Gary Nova is completing 61.8 percent of his passes for 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions, and he’s gone three of his last five games with zero touchdown passes. Leonte Carroo has caught 34 of Rutgers 113 receptions, and he leads the Scarlet Knights with 648 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Andrew Turzilli and Paul James are the only other players with a touchdown reception. Since James’ was ruled out for the season with an injury, Rutgers hasn’t rushed for 200 yards in a game and has just two rushing touchdowns. Desmon Peoples has topped 80 rushing yards in three of his last four games and is coming off a two-touchdown performance. Defensively, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are allowing 26.6 points, 423.6 yards, and they’ve forced eight turnovers and 24 sacks. Steve Longa leads Rutgers with 46 tackles and Kemoko Turay has 5.5 sacks.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers look to remain undefeated at home and stay in the Big Ten West hunt. The Cornhuskers continue to go as far as Ameer Abdullah carries them, as he’s rushed for 1,024 yards and 14 touchdowns, scoring a combined nine touchdowns in his last three games. Nebraska has won 10 straight games when rushing for 200-plus yards. Tommy Armstrong Jr. is completing 53.5 percent of his passes for 10 touchdowns and five interceptions, and he hasn’t thrown a touchdown in two straight games. Kenny Bell and Jordan Westerkamp have combined for 54 of Nebraska’s 106 receptions and five touchdowns. Defensively, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are allowing 19.9 points, 338.6 yards, and they’ve forced 11 turnovers and 16 sacks. Trevor Roach leads Nebraska with 26 solo tackles and Randy Gregory has 4.5 sacks.
The Scarlet Knights are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in October and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Cornhuskers are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 18-6-2 ATS in their last 26 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Rutgers has been just getting by this season and has lost against the better comp on their schedule. I don't see why this gme should be any different. Look for Ameer Abdullah to continue to run wild and the Cornhuskers to cover the number at home.
