The Massachusetts Minutemen bring their passing to the Glass Bowl to take the field with the Toledo Rockets.
Winning streaks and Massachusetts haven't been mentioned in the same sentence for years so after knocking off Eastern Michigan 36-14 on Saturday for consecutive victories it's sort of big news. The offense continued to put up some big numbers on the scoreboard with 562 yards and 34 first downs with 36 minutes of possession. The game wasn't perfect with three turnovers and a pair of botched PAT's and nine penalties but it didn't matter as the UMass defense held EMU to just 280 yards. Blake Frohnapfel had another big passing game with 337 yards and an interception with Tajae Sharpe leading the Minutemen receiving corps with 13 catches for 193 yards. UMass showed some muscle on the ground behind Shadrich Abrokwah's 24 carry, 135 yard performance with four touchdowns while Lorenzo Woodley chipped in with 63 yards and another score.

The Toledo Rockets were building some momentum with three consecutive conference victories heading in to their road battle with Iowa State but the Cyclones put an end to the good times with a 37-30 decision behind Sam Richardson's 351 passing yards and four touchdowns. The Rockets countered with 425 yards of their own with some balance although they leaned more heavily on the run which totaled 236 yards and averaged almost six yards per touch. Terry Swanson paced Toledo on the ground with a 17 carry, 135 yard effort with scoring runs of one and 14 yards. Quarterback Logan Woodside added another 42 yards but was more effective in the Rockets short air attack where he completed 22-36 for 189 yards with a short scoring toss to Marc Remy. Corey Jones was top gun aong the receiving corps with 12 catches for 118 yards with five others combining for ten receptions.
The Minutemen are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record while the Minutemen are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf with the under going 4-0 in Minutemen last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. The Toledo Rockets are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while the Rockets are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a bye week. The over is 6-1 in Rockets last 7 games following a bye week. Toledo is the better team without question but the one thing the Minutemen can do is score and whether they can put up enough points to cover the spread with their porous defense...
