Waldo Stadium and the Western Michigan Broncos brace for a visit from the Ohio Bobcats in week nine.
The Ohio Bobcats are in the midst of rebuilding what is one of the more successful programs in the MAC and took a step forward in week eights 23-20 victory over an improving Akron. A late Akron fumble and Josiah Yazdani's 22 yard field goal with less then two minutes remaining did the trick in what was a sloppy contest where each team gave the ball away three times while commiting a combined 21 penalties. Both teams finished with around 350 yards with Akron doing their damage through the air and Ohio having some balance. AJ Ouellette led the Bobcats on the ground with 74 yards on 23 carries with quarterback JD Sprague adding 68 yards on nine tries while throwing for 197 yards on 17-37 with a pair of touchdowns and an interception. I don't know if both offenses were bad or the defenses were good but this wasn't a pretty game.

The Western Michigan Broncos look to be a team to watch out for whether they challenge for the MAC title or just make a nuisance of themselves is the question. They handled Bowling Green 26-14 on the road in week eight for consecutive victories behind an impressive showing by the defense that allowed just 274 yards to a dangerous Falcons attack that also turned the ball over twice. The Broncos offense didn't set the woorld on fire with 361 yards but did just enough running and passing to get the job done. Jarvion Franklin led WMU on the ground with 149 yards on 37 carries with his 22 yard burst in te 4th quarter essentially ending the Falcons hopes. Zach Terrell connected on 15-24 for 166 yards with a two yard and 63 yard touchdowns to Corey Davis and Darius Phillips in a generally short but effective attack that helped control the ball for over 39 minutes.
The under is 4-0 in Bobcats last 4 games on fieldturf and the under is 4-0 in Bobcats last 4 games following a ATS win while the under is 4-0 in Bobcats last 4 conference games. For Western Michigan the Broncos are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf while the under is 8-0 in Broncos last 8 home games. Ohio is in a rebuilding mode with a ton of talent lost from the past several seasons while Western Michigan appears to have stepped up their game and doesn't look like a team anybody in the conference looks forward to playind so I'll take a shot with the home time...
