The Oregon State Beavers and the Cal Golden Bears face off on Saturday in Corvallis in Pac-12 college football action.
The Oregon State Beavers have lost three of their last four games and are coming off of one of their worst performances of the year losing to Stanford. OSU looked good enough out of conference but their Pac-12 schedule hasn’t yielded the results they were hoping for. Sean Mannion has thrown just seven touchdown passes and for 1,698 yards as the Oregon State offense is averaging just 25.4 points per game. Terron Ward leads he Beavers ground game with 446 yards and six touchdowns and Victor Bolden is the leading receiver with 30 receptions. The Oregon State defense is allowing 344.3 yards per game and 26.3 points. Ty Zimmerman has 43 tackles, Michael Doctor has 42 tackles, and Obum Gwacham has 4.0 sacks. Oregon State is looking for a bounce back spot.

The Cal Golden Bears have been a nice turnaround story but they have now lost their last two games. For Cal it has been all about their offense that is averaging 41.5 points per game and 504.5 yards. QB Jared Goff has completed 64.3 percent of his passes with 26 touchdowns and four interceptions. Daniel lasco has been effective carrying the football with 608 yards and seven touchdowns and Bryce Treggs has 37 catches and five touchdowns and Kenny Lawler has 29 catches and six touchdowns. The California defense has struggled allowing 533.1 yards per game and 41 points. Michael Lowe has 39.5 tackles, Cameron Walker has 38 tackles, and Michael Barton has 36 tackles. Cal will need to find some better tackling if they want to beat the teams they can’t just outscore.
Oregon State is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, 11-4 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, and 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 home games. Cal is 5-15 against the spread in their last 20 Pac-12 games, 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record, and 7-22 against the spread following a loss. The Favorite has covered the point spread in the last four meetings of these two.
Even with the total at 67.5 I still see this one going over that number. I also have a strong play on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
