The Wisconsin Badgers and Purdue Boilermakers play Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.
The Wisconsin Badgers have won six of their last seven games and will play their third true road game of the season. Wisconsin lives and dies with its running game that’s averaging 7.1 yards per carry and has produced 34 rushing plays of 20 or more yards. Melvin Gordon leads the charge with nearly 1,300 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Gordon, who is probable for this game despite a knee injury, has scored nine touchdowns in his last three games. Corey Clement is averaging 6.6 yards per carry and has scored four times in his last three games. A combination of Tanner McEvoy and Joel Stave is completing 54.2 percent of their passes for eight touchdowns and nine interceptions. While Wisconsin’s passing game hasn’t had to do much, Alex Erickson and Sam Arneson have combined for 49 receptions, close to 700 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, the Wisconsin Badgers are allowing 14.1 points, 253.8 yards, and they’ve forced 10 turnovers and 24 sacks. Michael Caputo leads Wisconsin with 57 tackles and Derek Landisch has 11 tackles for loss.

The Purdue Boilermakers have lost four of their last five games and must win out to secure a bowl game. Like Wisconsin, Purdue has a strong running game that’s averaging 5.1 yards per carry and has produced 19 running plays of 20 or more yards. Akeem Hunt and Raheem Mostert have combined for more than 1,100 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while quarterback Austin Appleby has five rushing touchdowns. Passing wise, Appleby is completing 53.9 percent of his passes for seven touchdowns and six interceptions. In his last two games, Appleby has six total touchdowns and two picks. Purdue will likely be without its leading receiver in Danny Anthrop, who is doubtful with a knee injury. Justin Sinz has 20-plus receiving yards in four straight games. Defensively, the Purdue Boilermakers are allowing 31.7 points, 414.6 yards, and they’ve forced 13 turnovers and 17 sacks. Landon Feichter leads Purdue with 75 tackles and Jake Replogle has 6.5 tackles for loss.
The Badgers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Boilermakers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 conference games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Badgers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Purdue and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings overall.
Wisconsin has simply owned Purdue against the number for the last decade and with the way the Badgers have been playing, you shouldn't expect anything different. The Badgers are in a different class than the Boilermakers and Purdue has very little advantages in this game if at all. I expect a blowout here, which is why I'm taking Wisky to cover the large number.
