The Georgia Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers face off on Saturday between the hedges for a SEC college football matchup.
The Georgia Bulldogs have two losses but they still have a chance to win the SEC East and advance to the SEC Championship but another loss insn’t part of the formula that has them making it. Georgia played with purpose last week following up their upset loss to Florida by starching Kentucky in Lexington. The Georgia offense is averaging 43 points and 453.2 yards per game and are guided by QB Hutson mason who has completed 69 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions. Nick Chubb is the top option running the ball with Todd Gurley still suspended and Chubb has gained 895 yards and scored seven touchdowns and Michael Bennett has been Georgia’s top receiver with 30 receptions and four touchdowns though Malcolm Mitchell is healthy again and back in the lineup. The Georgia defense allows 23.2 points and 338 yards per game with 19 takeaways and 21 sacks. Amarlo Herrera has 75 tackles, Ramik Wilson has 72 tackles, and Damian Swann and Quincy Mauger have three interceptions each. Georgia struggled against the run against Florida and that has to be a major concern against Auburn.

The Auburn Tigers appeared to be in position to go to the College Football Playoff but a series of miscues late on Saturday against Texas A&M sealed their fate and sent them to their second loss of the year. The Auburn offense averages 38.7 points and 5-6.9 yards and in revolves around QB Nick Marshall who has completed 61 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions and he has rushed for 698 yards and 11 touchdowns. Cameron Artis-Payne leads the Tigers ground attack with 1,190 yards and nine touchdowns and D’haquille Williams has 38 catches and five touchdowns to lead the Auburn receivers. The AU defense allows 24.1 points and 386.3 yards per game with 19 takeaways and 17 sacks. Johnathan Ford has 65 tackles and two interceptions, Cassanova McKinzy has 64 tackles, and Jonathan Jones has five interceptions. Auburn still has their Iron Bowl matchup with Alabama on the schedule.
Georgia is 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 13 SEC games, 3-7-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. Auburn is 7-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games, and 11-3 against the spread in their last 14 SEC games. The home team has covered the point spread in six of the last seven meetings of these two.
This one looks to be one of those where the last team with the ball could be the winner so my free pick is just a lean to Auburn.
