The Wake Forest Demon Deacons travel to North Carolina State to play the Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons dropped to 2-7, 0-5 ACC on the season after losing at home to Clemson 34-20 last week. The Demon Deacons have lost five straight games in conference play to Louisville, Florida State, Syracuse, Boston College, and now Clemson. Against the Tigers, Wake Forest allowed 427 total yards and forced two turnovers. Wake Forest is allowing 25.7 points per game, which ranks 62nd in the country this season. The Demon Deacons offense is putting up an average of only 15.3 points per game, which ranks a lousy 125th in the country this season. The Wake Forest offense only gained 119 total yards against the Tigers last week. QB Cole Wolford completed only 11 of 29 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown against Clemson. WR Cam Serigne caught 3 balls for 34 yards and 2 touchdowns, while RB Dezmond Wortham carried the ball 8 times for 30 yards in the loss. The Demon Deacons are just not a good team all around and would like nothing more than to get one win at the end of the season so they have momentum heading into next season. Wake Forest will be on the road for the fifth time this season; the Demon Deacons have not won a game on the road this season.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack dropped to 5-5, 1-5 ACC after losing to Georgia Tech 56-23 at home last weekend. The Wolfpack have lost five of their last six games, falling to Florida State, Clemson, Boston College, and Louisville along the way. The Wolfpack gave up a whopping 549 total yards against Georgia Tech last weekend, but did force two turnovers. NC State ranks 93rd in points allowed this season, giving up over 30 points per game to their opponents on average. The Wolfpack offense is averaging over 28 points per game, which ranks 76th in the country. Against the Yellow Jackets, QB Jacoby Brissett completed 18 of 35 passes for 213 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Brissett also ran for a team-high 77 yards and another score. The Wolfpack are trying to finish with a winning record so that they can have the chance at being bowl eligible this season. This will be the final home game for the Wolfpack; NC State is an even 3-3 at home this season.
Wake Forest has won three of the last five meetings with North Carolina State, including a 28-13 win at home last year. Both of these team have struggled all year and there isn’t much to play for at this point in the season. Wake Forest’s defense has been decent and I think they will slow the Wolfpack offense down in this one. Meanwhile, the Demon Deacons will score enough to keep this game within reach. I’m taking the road dog here.
