The Pittsburgh Panthers travel to North Carolina to play the Tar Heels on Saturday.
The Pittsburgh Panthers dropped to 4-5 on the year after losing to Duke in double-overtime 51-48 two weeks ago. The Panthers have lost five of their last six games overall, falling to the likes of Iowa, Akron, Virginia, Georgia Tech, and now Duke. Pittsburgh allowed 438 total yards against the Blue Devils. On the season, the Panthers are allowing an average of 26.3 points per game, which ranks an average 66th in the country. Offensively, Pittsburgh is averaging a decent 31.1 points per game, which is 55th in the nation. QB Chad Voytik completed 16 of 24 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns against Duke two weeks ago. WR Tyler Boyd caught a whopping 7 balls for 140 yards for the Panthers. RB James Conner carried the ball 38 times for an outstanding 263 yards and 3 touchdowns. Conner and Boyd are NFL caliber players that have the ability to change a game at any moment. Pittsburgh will head out on the road for the fourth time this season; the Panthers are 2-1 away from home this season.

The North Carolina Tar Heels dropped to 4-5 on the year after losing to Miami on the road 47-20 two weeks ago. The Tar Heels had won two straight before the loss, following a four game losing streak during September. Against Miami, the Tar Heels allowed 494 total yards and forced one turnover. On the season, the Tar Heels rank an almost dead last 126th in points against, allowing an average of more than 41 points per contest. The North Carolina offense is making up for the poor defense, averaging a solid 35.4 points per game. QB Marquise Williams completed 22 of 32 passes for 191 yards and an interception against Miami two weeks ago. WR T.J. Thorpe caught 4 balls for 66 yards, while RB Romar Morris rushed for only 23 yards on 5 carries for the Tar Heels. North Carolina’s offense will need to step it up moving forward because the defense is showing no signs of improvement any time soon. North Carolina will host their fifth game of the season; the Tar Heels are 3-1 at home this season.
These two teams have played once in the last 5 years and that was last year where North Carolina won 24-27 at Pittsburgh. Both teams have had two weeks to prepare. I believe Pittsburgh will get revenge on the road this season. North Carolina has played awful defense all year, Conner and Boyd should have huge days for the Panthers. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh will make just enough stops to win and cover a high scoring game.
