The Syracuse Orange travel to Boston College to play the Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
The Syracuse Orange dropped to 3-8, 1-6 ACC after losing at Pittsburgh 30-7 last weekend. The Orange have dropped to four straight games to the likes of Clemson, NC State, Duke, and now the Panthers. On the season, the Syracuse defense is allowing 24 points per game, which ranks a decent 43rd in the country. Offensively, the Orange are averaging only 18 points per game, which ranks a miserable 120th in the country this season. QB AJ Long has completed only 55% of his passes for 876 yards this season. Long has only seen limited time as he replaced Terrel Hunt at quarterback. WR Jarrod West has a team-high 44 catches for 655 yards, but has no touchdown grabs this season. RB Prince-Tyson Gulley has rushed for a team-high 582 yards and a touchdown for the Orange. Syracuse doesn’t have much to play for at this point and would just like to end the season on a positive note. The Orange are 2-2 on the road this season.

The Boston College Eagles dropped to 6-5, 3-4 ACC after losing a close game at Florida State 20-17 last weekend. The Eagles played the defending champs tough and had a chance to take the lead late, but the kicker missed a go-ahead field goal. Boston College has lost two straight after beating Wake Forest and Virginia Tech on the road in late October. On the season, the Eagles rank 28th in points allowed, giving up an average of 21.7 points per contest. The Boston College offense is averaging 25.7 points per game, which ranks a lousy 87th in the country. QB Tyler Murphy has thrown for 1,366 yards with 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. Murphy also leads the team in rushing yards with 1,059 on the ground and 10 more scores. RB Jon Hilliman has rushed for 693 yards and 11 touchdowns for Boston College. The Eagles are bowl eligible and would like to add to their win total and play in a better bowl game at the end of the year. Boston College will play it’s final home game this weekend; the Eagles are 2-4 at home this season.
Syracuse beat Boston College at home last season 34-31. Syracuse’s offense is terrible and unless they can slow down Murphy they will be in for a long day on Saturday. Boston College is coming off an emotional loss at Florida State, but I believe they will be fired up in front of the home crowd on senior night this weekend. The Eagles will win this game by at least two touchdowns and Syracuse will be happy to end their season.
