The Line: Bowling Green Falcons +3 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The Bowling Green Falcons tangle with the Northern Illinois Huskies for the MAC title at Ford Field.

The Bowling Green Falcons will be representing the MAC East in the conference championship despite their struggles the last two times out. The Falcons have dropped consecutive contests following a 41-24 loss to visiting Ball State as ten point favorite in week 14. This looked like momentum building rout with a 21-7 lead after one quarter but it was all downhill after that. The Falcons totaled 454 yards with 314 yards coming on the ground while the more balanced Cardinals posted 485 yards. James Knapke completed 18-27 for 140 yards in an extention of the rushing attack while Travis Greene ran for 159 yards including a 75 yard scoring jaunt with Fred Coppet adding 140 yards and a two yard TD. BGSU averaged over eight yards per carry and Clint Stephens had a 96 yard kick return but the Falcons struggled after the first 15 minutes.

Bowling Green Falcons vs. Northern Illinois Huskies - 12/5/14 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The MAC West champion Northern Illinois Huskies face the Bowling Green Falcons for the MAC title on Friday. The Huskies went 7-1 in the conference and seem to be peaking with five consecutive victories after a 31-21 decision at red hot Western Michigan in week 14 as an eight point underdog. The Huskies looked to be in trouble with the Broncos exploding to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter before Northern Illinois dominated the second half with a 21-0 run. Both teams finished with around 350 yards but WMU lost four fumbles and threw a pair of interceptions while NIU turned the ball over twice. Drew Har0e threw for 159 yards with a 65 yard scoring toss to Aregeros Turner. Joel Bouagnon and Akeem Daniels combined for 128 yards on the ground but this wasn't about a yard here or there but was more about NIU taking advantage of mistakes.

I'm surprised by what I have seen from Bowling Green the past few weeks but in the scope of things it's not all gloom and doom with the Falcons earning a shot at the conference championship. Throw in the fact that BGSU lost their starting quarterback early on and the season has come out well. Northern Illinois lost some obvious talent especially under center and yet here they are playing for the MAC championship. I think the Huskies simply have it going right now and I'll lay the field goal with the hot team...
