The Western Michigan Broncos and Air Force Falcons travel to Boise to clash in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
The Western Michigan Broncos were one of the hottest teams coming down the stretch with six straight victories before a season ending loss to visiting Northern Illinois. The Broncos were a cover machine going 10-2 ATS behind an offense that could do a bit of evrything and a defense that kept opponents off the scoreboard. The D allowed 370 yards and less then 24 points and was #37 against the run with 142 yards allowed. WMU was probably known for their ability to throw with good reason at 265 yards but the ground game was also productive at nearly 180 yards and the result was a nice 35 points per game. QB Zach Terrell completed 70% of his throws for 3,146 yards with Corey Davis totaling 1,232 receving yards with Daniel Braverman adding 912 yards for a solid one, two punch. The ground game was a one man show with Jarvion Franklin totaling 1,525 yards on 294 carries and 24 TD's.

The Air Force Falcons had a banner season at 9-3 and defeated the best two teams in the Mountain West in Colorado State and Boise State. The Falcons are known for their option attack but their defense was better then advertised and integral to this team's success. AFA allowed less then 400 yards and 24 points and were strong against the run with 142 yards given up but the pass D was ranked #101 at 256 yards. The Falcons were a solid offensive squad as well with the #6 rushing attack producing 272 yards to rank #8. Running the ball is the bread and butter of this team but just over 150 passing yards was a great compliment. Jacobi Owens was the workhorse on the ground with 1,054 yards on 204 totes with Shayne Davern and Kale Pearson combining for over 1,000 yards. Pearson was also effective in the air at 59% for 1,513 yards with 14 TD's and three picks with Jalen Robinette totaling 763 receiving yards with Garrett Brown posting another 509 yards in receptions with the end result being 31 points on the scoreboard.
The Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. loss and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games on fieldturf while going 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. For Air Force the under is 6-1 in Falcons last 7 vs. a team with a winning record and 10-2 in Falcons last 12 non-conference games with the Falcons going 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. Interesting match up with the Broncos being a cover machine and they face a Falcons squad with Kale Pearson and Jacobi Owens questionable. I'll back the cover machine...
