The Marshall Thundering Herd face the Northern Illinois Huskies in the Boca Raton Bowl.
The Marshall Thundering Herd have enjoyed a fantastic season at 12-1 with the CUSA championship. The only disappointment was a one point loss to Western Kentucky in the regular season finale'. The Thundering Herd could do it all with the ability to run and throw their way to 45 points while allowing just 351 yards and 21 points so double digit victories were common. In terms of yardage the offense was ranked second at 563 yards with quarterback Rakeem Cato throwing for 3,622 yards for 37 TD's and 13 interceptions. Tommy Shuler was the top option of the receiving corps with 953 yards on 74 catches while Davonte Allen, Angelo Jean-Louis and Eric Frohnapfel combined for 1,400 yards on 76 receptions. Devon Johnson paced Marshall on the ground with 1,636 yards on 191 yards for a whopping 8.6 yard average and 16 scores. Steward Butler totaled 781 yards on 102 totes for a 7.7 yard average so this team could really run.

The 11-2 Huskies allowed 383 yards and less then 24 points and were #40 on offense with 442 yards and 32 points behind a top 15 rushing attack that racked up 253 yards. Cameron Stingily was the top runner with 895 yards while Joel Bouagnon and Akeem Danils combined for another 950+ yards as NIU generally kept things on the ground.
