The Minnesota Golden Gophers look to slow down the Missouri Tigers in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.
The Missouri Tigers head to the Citrus Bowl looking to get rid of the bad taste in their mouths left from their SEC title game loss to Alabama. The Tigers were not a big offense with just 362 yards and 27 points to lean on but they did their share of scoring at times and their defense was very solid with only 344 yards and 21 points allowed with equally tough pass and run D's. Maty Mauk wasn't a highly efficient passer at 53% but his 2,551 yards with 23 scores and eleven picks were nothing to laugh at. Bud Sasser and Jimmie Hunt paced the receiving corps with 935 yards and 698 yards respectively while Russell Hansbrough added 970 yards on the ground with Marcus Murphy totaling 767 yards. Not a lot of 'big' numbers but the defense made things work for the most part.

There was nothing special about the offense that produced just 356 yards and 29 points although their physical rushing attack could not be ignored with 225 yards per game. Fortunately the defensive side of the football was dependable and generally kept the scoreboard from getting out of hand with 363 yards and 23 points given up. Quarterback Mitch Liedner struggled to connect with his recevers at 1,540 yards on 49% with ten touchdowns and seven interceptions. Maxx Williams caught 29 balls for 471 yards but the centerpiece of the offense was the running of David Cobb who totaled 1,548 yards on 294 touches for a 5.3 yard average.
