The Pitt Panthers and Houston Cougars take the field in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.
The Houston Cougars had an uncanny knack of coming up with every loose ball a season ago. That wasn't the case in 2014 as UH didn't get off to a great start but their defensive numbers were still outstanding with only 335 yards and less then 20 points allowed behind top 30 run and pass D's. The offense was a bit middle of the row at 411 yards and 29 points but that was still enough to garner a Bowl invitation. John O'Korn threw for 951 yards before Greg Ward Jr. took over and threw for 1,734 yards with Deontray Greenberry grabbing 68 balls for 746 yards. The ground was where the Cougars did most of their damage with Kenneth Farrow totaling 939 yards while Ryan Jackson and Ward Jr. combining for almost 1,100 yards and 23 TD's.

The Pitt Panthers were a bit tough to nail down at times especially in the middle of the season where the Panthers dropped six of seven. The Panthers were a defense first team that ran the ball effectively which is always a nice combination to have. Pitt gave up 349 yards and 25+ points while the offense was a top 45 unit that totaled 434 yards and almost 32 points that was very run heavy at over 250 yards. Although the Panthers did not throw a lot Chad Voytik had a strong year in the air with 2,011 yards with 15 scores and seven touchdowns. Tyler Boyd was the top option among receivers with 1,149 yards on 69 catches for a hefty 16.7 yard average. James Connor was the strength of the rushing attack with 1,675 yards with Voytik and Chris James combining for 830 yards.
The Cougars are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while the under is 4-0 in Cougars last 4 Friday games and is 4-0 in Cougars last 4 non-conference games. For Pittsburgh the over is 5-0-1 in Panthers last 6 games following a ATS win while the Panthers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game withe the over going 5-1-1 in Panthers last 7 games following a S.U. win. I think Houston has the defense to control Pittsburgh on the ground and if they do I'll take the field goal...
