Georgia Tech opens up their season Thursday night at home against Alcorn State.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are coming off a great year where they managed to make it to the ACC championship game. They return 13 starters from this team and will need to replace some key players on their offense. Quarterback Justin Thomas is back at quarterback and will lead this options style offense. They lose three of their running backs but return 4 of their offense of line starters, which will make it easier for whoever takes over at running back. Their defense struggled at times last year but looks to be better this season. Defensive linemen Adam Gotsis and KeShun Freeman will lead the Yellow Jackets up front. Their Secondary will feature senior safety Jamal Golden who was huge for them last year.

Alcorn State won the SWAC Championship last year and finished 10-3 overall. Alcorn State is a run first team and have a lot of weapons on offense. Their Quarterback John Gibbs JR threw for over 3000 yards and ran for over 1000 yards as well. Defensive linemen Darien Moody is their playmaker on defense. He is their best player on defense and they will need him to play like it against Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech is 4-0 straight up in their last 4 games against non-conference opponents. The Yellow Jackets are 6-1 straight up in their last 7 games against all opponents. Georgia Tech is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games at home.
Alcorn State is one of the better FCS teams but they don’t stand much of a chance against Georgia Tech. I expect Georgia Tech to blowout Alcorn State.
