The FIU Panthers look for some improvement after winning just five games in Ron Turner’s first two seasons. Alex McGough returns at quarterback after completing 50.4 percent of his passes for 1,680 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Jonnu Smith and Ya'Keem Griner combined for more than 800 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while Dennis Turner had 11 receptions as a freshman. Alex Gardner returns at running back after leading the way with 585 rushing yards and a touchdown. Treyvon Williams returns at linebacker after picking up 50 tackles, Michael Wakefield had eight tackles for loss and Richard Leonard had five interceptions.

The UCF Knights hope to reach a fourth straight bowl game under coach George O'Leary. Justin Holman returns at quarterback after completing 56.9 percent of his passes for 2,952 yards, 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Jordan Akins and Dontravious Wilson combined for close to 200 receiving yards while Kevin Miller had two receptions as a junior. William Stanback returns at running back after leading the way with 697 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Thomas Niles returns at defensive lineman after picking up 7.5 sacks, D.J. Killings had two interceptions and Chequan Burkett had 40 tackles as a freshman.

This is far too many points for me to lay in an opening game between two teams that aren't exactly loaded with talent. Yes, UFC is the better squad and more talented, but FIU has some players who can play as we saw last season, and I'm sure they'll be eager to prove themselves against another Florida team. Give me the points.
