The Buffalo Bulls take the field with instate rival the Albany Great Danes to kick off 2015.
The defensive minded Albany Great Danes finished 2014 at 7-5 and outscored opponents 27-23. This season the Great Danes might lean even more on their defense with quarterback Will Fiacchi taking 2,636 passing yards to graduation while top rusher Omar Osbourne and his 1,251 yards is also gone which leaves Andre Martin (52-219) as the top returning runner. Josh Gontarek led the receiving corps with 58 receptions for 687 yards and was the Colonial offensive rookie of the year although the quarterback spot is an unknown with Fiacchi taking virtually every snap so where Gonterak’s numbers go this year is purely a guess.

The Buffalo Bulls look to become more of a ‘name’ in 2015 with new head coach Lance Leipold bringing in a 109-6 career record at Wisconsin-Whitewater. UB outscored the opposition 32-31 on the way to a 5-6 record and get star quarterback Joe Licata and his 2,647 passing yards back along with top receiver Ron Willoughby (50-771) and actually nearly everyone that caught the ball in 2014. Anthone Taylor (282-1403) leads the rushing attack although the O-Line needs a few new faces. The weakness for Buffalo a year ago was getting stops and with the defensive side of the ball losing the majority of their starters getting off the field on defense could once again be their Achilles Heel.
The over is 8-1 in Bulls last 9 non-conference games and is 6-1 in Bulls last 7 games in September while Buffalo are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. Buffalo should be exciting from a quarterback standpoint with Joe Licata possessing a great arm. UB isn’t great but their passing attack should give Albany problems…
