The Texas Longhorns visit Notre Dame Stadium to oppose the Fighting Irish in the season opener.
The Texas Longhorns finished 2014 at 6-7 with a Bowl loss to Arkansas and the fans are just not happy. They expect to field a team that at least has a shot at the National Championship but when you are being outscored 24-21 the offense is holding you back. Quarterback Tyrone Swoopes threw for just over 2,400 yards and ran for 467 yards but he was sacked 26 times and was at 58% with 13 TD’s and 11 picks which isn’t good enough. Marcus Johnson and his 27 receptions makes him the top receiver back while Jonathan Gray is the top runner with 636 yards. The defense should still be a strength despite some key departures so scoring points remains a priority.

Even though an 8-5 record would be the envy of many a team and their respective fan base it’s not for Notre Dame who want more in 2015. The offense doesn’t have mistake prone Everett Golson at quarterback who seemed a bit lost at times with just too many mistakes at crucial times. The question is what will Malik Zaire bring to the table even though he has loads of potential. William Fuller, Chris Brown, CJ Prosise and Corey Robinson gives him weapons in the receiving corps while Tarean Folston will give the Irish punch on the ground but Zaire remains the Wild Card. A better run ‘D’ is at the top of the wish list defensively with the defense needing to shoulder some of the burden if Zaire struggles.
The under is 5-1 in Longhorns last 6 road games and the Longhorns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games on grass while Texas are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The over is 5-0 in Fighting Irish last 5 non-conference games and is 5-0 in Fighting Irish last 5 games on grass while going 6-0 in Fighting Irish last 6 games overall. I see this as being a tight affair which to me says take the points…
