UL Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns vs. Kentucky Wildcats - 9/5/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Kentucky Wiidcats (0-0) vs. UL Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (0-0)

College Football: Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 7: pm (Commonwealth Stadium)

The Line: Kentucky Wildcats -16 -- Over/Under: 60.5 See the Latest Odds

The Kentucky Wildcats take the field with the Louisiana-Lafayette Raging Cajuns at Commonwealth Stadium in week one.

The Kentucky Wildcats had the look of a Bowl team in 2014 until they lost six straight to end the season at 5-7. The Wildcats defense allowed 36 points or more in seven contests and that can’t happen so we’ll see if some holes on the line are filled to create a pass rush and help out the secondary. Quarterback Patrick Towles threw for 2,718 yards and ran for a team high 537 yards but a 14/9 TD/INT ratio with 36 sacks on 57% completions all have to improve. UK spread the ball around through the air with top target Ryan Timmons (45-536) returning. Kentucky also spread out the carries in the rushing attack and Boom Williams and his 6.6 yard average on 74  totes is the crème of the crop with four starters on the line.

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns have established themselves as one of the top teams in the Sun Belt but many wonder  if the success continues with quarterback Terrance Broadway departing. The question could be rephrased and asked ‘can Brooks Haack produce under center?’. Haack has Gabe Fuselier and Al Riles to lean on in the receiving corps but a few more targets such as Jamal Robinson and Devin Scott will need to step up. Of course Haack has a gem in the backfield in Elijah McGuire who averaged around eight yards per touch so feeding him the ball looks like a good thing with three offensive lineman back. If Haack can produce on the ground the Cajuns offense will miss Broadway but they won’t be taking two steps back either.

The Ragin' Cajuns are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in September and are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games while going  5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 games on grass. The Wildcats are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and the over is 4-0 in Wildcats last 4 home games while going 5-1 in their last 6 games on grass. My thought is Kentucky should be able to throw with great success and will cover…
