The Line: Utah Utes -13 -- Over/Under: 47 See the Latest Odds
The Utah Utes and the Utah State Aggies face off on Friday in a college football rivalry game.
The Utah Utes were impressive in their season opener knocking off Michigan at home. QB Travis Wilson was efficient in the Utes win completing 75 percent of his passes for 208 yards and an interception that was just a heave into the endzone before the half but he also rean for 53 yards and a TD. Devontae Booker averaged just 3.1 yards per carry and scored a TD for as well as catching seven passes for Utah while Britain Covey caught five passes. Gionni Paul led the Utah defense as he was in on 14 tackles, Tevin Carter was in on nine, and Jared Norris was in on eight. The Utah defense also picked off three passes and held Michigan to just 2.6 yards per carry. While Michigan was a stiffer test for Utah on paper, the Utes a very well aware their opponent this week will leave it all on the table in hopes of walking out with a win.

The Utah State Aggies ay have been looking ahead in week one as they needed to rally late to get a 12-9 win over FCS Southern Utah. QB Chuckie Keeton is back for USU but he didn’t look like his old self in the opener completing less than 50 percent of his passes with one interception and no touchdowns. Utah State running back LaJuan Hunt averaged 3.5 yards per carry rushing for 90 yards and Braelo Roberts had four receptions to lead the Aggies. Nick Vigil led the Utah State defense as he was in on 13 tackles and LT Filiaga had six. The Utah State special teams ruled the day as Andr Rodriguez returned a punt for the touchdown as the winning score. Utah State will need to play much better this week if they hope to compete.
Utah is 4-1 against the spread following a win, 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games, and 4-1 against the spread against the Mountain West Conference. Utah State is 5-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 19-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 against the spread after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. The road team is 8-3-1 against the spread in the last 12 meetings of these two.
With the total set at 47 I have to take the under in this one as the defensesshoul rule the day as these are players who know one another well being an in state rivalry. My stronger pick is on the winning team and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
