The Missouri Tigers will be shooting for a 2-0 start to the year after a week two visit to the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

The Missouri Tigers kicked open the 2015 campaign with a 34-3 victory against FCS Southeast Missouri. The Tigers did what they needed to do with a 417-201 edge in yards and basically took a big lead and began thinking of next week.  Quarterback Marty Mauk went 12-122 for 181 yards with a pair of TD’s and a pick before Missouri turned to Drew Lock who threw for another 138 yards and a score. Tyler Hunt, J’Mon Moore, and Nate Brown each caught touchdown passes while combining for seven receptions and 211 yards to pace a pass heavy Missouri attack. The rushing game was a non factor with Missouri finishing around 100 yards and a three yard average. Aarion Penton gave the Tigers special teams something to celebrate with a 41 yard return of a blocked punt.

Arkansas State Red Wolves Vs. Missouri Tigers - 9/12/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Arkansas State Red Wolves figure to be one of the better teams in the Sun Belt but they didn’t have the horses on either side of the ball in a 55-6 loss at Southern Cal in week one. ASU trailed in yardage 509-402 which wasn’t as bad as one would think given the score. Fredi Knighten struggled to give the Red Wolves a viable passing attack with 86 yards on 8-23 with a pair of interceptions while James Tabary went 7-11 for 95 yards.  Tres Houston and Darion Griswold were the top Arkansas State receivers with two catches apiece for a combined 100 yards. Knighten paced the Red Wolves on the ground with 58 yards on 14 totes while Michael Gordon added 55 yards and a touchdown. However the story of the game is Arkansas State couldn’t find the end zone and USC did.

If you watched both teams the only thing we can say about Arkansas State is Southern Cal was bigger and faster and took advantage of every opportunity they had. Once USC had the momentum in the home opener nothing went right for the Red Wolves. I saw Missouri versus FCS Southeast Missouri and thought they dominated play but really just wanted to get the game over and move on. I’m leaning Missouri here but could update…
