The Line: Ohio Bobcats +3.5 -- Over/Under: 60.5 See the Latest Odds

The Marshall Thundering Herd will travel to Peden Stadium to take on the Ohio Bobcats this Saturday evening in College Football action.

The Marshall Thundering Herd (1-0, 0-0 C-USA) scored 24 second half points to defeat the Purdue Boilermakers 41-31 this past Saturday afternoon. Marshall was trailing 34-27 with under three minutes to play but got a late rushing TD by Devon Johnson to take a 34-31 lead with 2:50 left to play and sealed the victory with Tiquan Lang’s second INT returned for a TD with a little more than a minute left to play. Marshall was outgained by the Boilermakers by a 454-397 margin but did win the turnover battle by a 4-3 margin. Leading the way for Marshall was QB Michael Birdsong (23-36, 234 yds, 2 TD, 1 Int) and RB Devon Johnson (11 car, 89 yds, 1 TD). Safety Tiquan Lang was named the National Defensive Player of the Week as on top of the two INT’s returned for TD’s, Lang finished with a game high 17 tackles. Marshall finished the 2014 season with 13 victories and once again look as if they are one of C-USA’s elite teams as they have Devon Johnson (2014 – 8.6 yds/carry, 1767 yds) once against leading the offensive charge in the backfield.

Ohio vs. Marshall - 9/12/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Ohio Bobcats (1-0, 0-0 MAC) scored 21 first quarter points and rolled to a solid 45-28 victory over the Idaho Vandals this past Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats outgained the Vandals by a 489-400 margin and were led by a strong running game that put up 206 rushing yards and TD’s on Idaho. Leading the way for the Ohio offense was QB Derrius Vick (13-16, 192 yds, 2 TD), RB Daz’mond Patterson (13 car, 85 yds, 1 TD), and WR Brendan Cope (4 rec, 129 yds, 1 TD). The Bobcats defensive had trouble containing Idaho’s WR Dezmon Epps (15 rec, 160 yds) however, did win the turnover battle by a 3-1 margin. The Bobcats defensive was led by S Nathan Carpenter who was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week who recorded 5 tackles and recorded two turnovers in the game which he returned one for a TD. Ohio has been consistent threat in the MAC-East over the years and should contend once again as they have 18 returning starters from a team that went 6-6 last season.

The Thundering Herd are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Bobcats are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in September and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games.

Marshall is once again one of the top C-USA teams this year and although Ohio is certainly no push over as they have one of the better defenses in the MAC, I think Devon Johnson and decent Marshall defensive will be able to cover this small spread against Ohio.
