The North Texas Mean Green visit the rival Southern Methodist Mustangs to open their 2015 slate.

The North Texas Mean Green were not really effective on either side of the ball and as a result were not a factor in 2014. The Mean Green struggled to move the chains and find the end zone and I can see Andrew McNulty being given a short leash under center if the passing attack is stuck in neutral which his nearly 1,300 yards on 54% completions in 2014 suggests. The good news for the North Texas passing attack is wide receiver Carlos Harris is looking to build on his 70 catch, 865 yard campaign of a season ago. UNT will be leaning on Antoinne Jmmerson and Jeffrey Wilson on the ground  but neither was explosive and that is a concern with little experience on the offensive line.

SMU Mustangs Vs. North Texas Mean Green - 9/12/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Southern Methodist Mustangs had upset on their minds as they trailed visiting Baylor 28-21 after 30 minutes in the opener. The Bears set things right as they outscored SMU 28-0 in the final two quarters to win 56-21 as nearly a five touchdown favorite. The boxscore heavily favored the Bears who amassed over 700 yards in whatever fashion they preferred while the Mustangs were held to 369 yards. Southern Methodist had a very short passing game with Matt Davis going 16-23 for 166 yards with a pair of touchdowns but his two interceptions were killers. Davis was the top runner for the Mustangs with a solid 115 yard, 24 carry performance while Courtland Sutton paced the receiving unit with touchdown receptions of 31 yards and 46 yards.

We really don’t know what North Texas brings to the table because they have yet to take the field. Having said that the Mean Green appear to be on par with their team of a season ago. Southern Methodist was spanked by Baylor in their opener although it was a tale of two half’s where the Mustangs looked great for 30 minutes and awful in the second half. SMU has a decent shot at winning but we’ll see which team shows up…
