The UTEP Miners look to bounce back after suffering a 48-13 loss to Arkansas. Mack Leftwich is completing 64.3 percent of his passes for 120 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. Leftwich has no touchdowns in his last three games. Aaron Jones and Darrin Laufasa have combined for 100 receiving yards while freshman Warren Redix has one reception. The UTEP Miners ground game is averaging 58 yards per contest, and Jones leads the way with 70 yards on 15 carries. Defensively, UTEP is allowing 48 points and 490 yards per game. Dashone Smith leads the Miners with seven tackles, LaQuintus Dowell has a tackle for loss and Jimmy Musgrave has five tackles. Defensive back Traun Roberson is questionable with an ankle injury.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming off a 59-45 victory over Sam Houston State. Patrick Mahomes II is completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 425 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Mahomes has 14 touchdown passes in his last three games. Devin Lauderdale and Ian Sadler have combined for 220 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Jakeem Grant has six receptions. The Texas Tech Red Raiders ground games is averaging 174 yards per contest, and DeAndre Washington leads the way with 74 yards on 13 carries. Defensively, Texas Tech is allowing 45 points and 637 yards per game. Micah Awe leads the Red Raiders with 10 tackles, Branden Jackson has a sack and J.J. Gaines has an interception. Receiver Reginald Davis is questionable.
The Miners are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 vs. Big 12 and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games. The Red Raiders are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Texas Tech just allowed 45 points to Sam Houston State. I think it's safe to say that UTEP is a better team than what the Red Raiders just faced. Bottom line is Texas Tech doesn't play much defense, which should help Leftwich break out of his zero touchdown slump. If forced to pick, you have to like the points here. It's more of a fade from the Red Raiders.
