The USC Trojans and the Idaho Vandals face off on Saturday in college football action.
The USC Trojans are living up to their lofty expectations so far this season as they pummeled Arkansas State in week 1. USC QB Cody Kessler competed 73 percent of his passes for 236 yards and four touchdowns in the win. The Trojans rushing attack was led by Tre Madden who gained 106 yards and scored a touchdown and Ronald Jones II who rished for 86 yards and a touchdown on six carries While JuJu Smith-Schuster and Steven Mitchell Jr. each had four catches and a touchdown to lead Southern Cal receivers. While the USC defense allowed just six points they allowed 208 rushing yards and 401 yards overall. Cameron Smith and Matt Lopes led the USC defense with seven tackles each and Su’a Cravens and Iman Marshall each had six tackles. USC looked impressive in many aspects of the game but how good this team is I can’t be sure especially with the known deficiencies in the Head Coaching department.

The Idaho Vandals just looked over matched in their opening game against Ohio which doesn’t bode well for this road trip. Idaho QB Matt Linehan completed 36 of his 48 passes and while he had a touchdown he threw two interceptions. The Vandals leading rusher against OU was Elijhaa Penny who gained 69 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns and Dezmon Epps had 15 receptions for 160 yards. The Idaho defense surrendered 489 yards including a dreadful 205 yards on the ground. The Idaho defense was led by Marc Millan, Broc Westerlake, and Chris Edwards who each had seven tackles. Idaho could be in for a rough trip to Los Angeles.
USC is 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 home games, 6-18 against the spread following a win, and 1-5 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. Idaho is 10-23-1 against the spread in their last 34 games, 22-47-2 against the spread following a loss, and 2-7-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
USC can name their number in this one and they have the type of Head Coach that needs to stroke his ego any chance he gets so look for them to embarrass the Vandals and embarrass themselves in the process as Sarikisian often does.
