The Hampton Pirates hope to get a game above .500 after suffering a close loss to Richmond last week. David Watford is completing 55.7 percent of his passes for 574 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Watford and Twarn Mixson have combined for eight touchdown passes. Mixson and Rashawn Proctor have combined for more than 360 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Leon Shorter has five receptions. The Hampton Pirates ground game is averaging 81.5 yards per contest, and Chris Dukes leads the way with 89 yards on 26 carries. Defensively, Hampton is allowing 25.5 points and 365 yards per game. Tyrone Ward leads the Pirates with 16 tackles, Miles Grooms has 2.5 sacks and Jaston George has an interception.
Hampton has actually shown some signs of life this season and nearly beat Richmond last week. Meanwhile, Howard is averaging less than 100 yards of total offense and has allowed a combined 125 points in two games. The Howard Bison are off to as bad of a start as I remember any team being.
Hampton and the reasonable chalk is the only pick here.
