FAU Football Stadium and the Florida Atlantic Owls host the Buffalo Bulls in week three action.
The Buffalo Bulls offense didn’t come to life until it was too late in z 27-14 loss at Penn State to fall to 1-1. The UB defense did well by holding the Nittany Lions to 328 yards but the offensive side of the football struggled to just 274 yards. The Bulls had some success on the ground with Anthone Taylor carrying the ball 18 times for 93 yards but nobody else did anything significant. Joe Licata had a somewhat quiet game through the air with 205 yards on 24-25 which is Buffalo’s only real strength offensively but touchdown throws to Ron Willoughby and Marcus McGill were the extent of the scoring with Licata facing a lot of pressure.

The Florida Atlantic Owls fought visiting Miami almost even for 30 minutes but the loss of quarterback Jaquez Johnson was too much to overcome in a 44-20 defeat that dropped their record to 0-2. The Hurricanes ran and threw their way to 526 yards while the Owls 389 yards was hurt by a pair of interceptions and three lost fumbles. Jeff Driskel replaced Johnson early but the FAU passing attack wasn’t threatening with 155 yards on 17-30 with a four yard scoring toss to Nate Terry and two killer picks. Florida Atlantic also received an eleven carry, 132 yard rushing effort from Jay Warren with a nine yard score but he also missed a chunk of the game. Greg Howell gave the Owls 78 yards on the ground but the losses of Johnson and Warren killed Florida Atlantic.
