The LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers face off on Saturday in Baton Rouge in a college football battle of SEC heavyweights.
The LSU Tigers Are coming off of a season opening win over Mississippi State in a game where they appeared to have it well in hand and nearly let it slip away. The LSU offense scored 21 points and gained 337 yards but appeared to have their hands tied when it came to the passing game. LSU QB Brandon Harris completed 9 of his 14 passes for just 71 yards and ran five times for 48 yards but LSU refused to pass late in the game. The LSU rushing attack was led by Leonard Fournette who ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns and Travin Dural had four catches to lead the receivers. The LSU defense allowed 19 points and 378 yards with three sacks but they allowed plenty of yards late and needed to shut down a two-point conversion to hold on for the win. The LSU tacklers were led by Deion Jones with 12, Kendall Beckwith with 11, and Dwayne Thomas with 10. LSU will have a game under their belt this week and that should help.

The Auburn Tigers provided the most drama in week two needed overtime to beat Jacksonville State after besting Louisville in week one. The Auburn offense is averaging 29 points and 364 yards per game but they are clearly not 100 percent in sync. Auburn QB Jeremy Johnson has completed 60.4 percent of his passes with three touchdowns but he has five interceptions. Peyton Barber has carried the load for Auburn in the rushing game averaging 5.1 yards per carry and Ricardo Louis is the leading receiver with 13 catches. The Auburn defense us allowing 22 points and 421.5 yards per game with two interceptions, one fumble recovery, and six sacks. Johnathan Ford is Auburn’s leading tackler with 24, Cassanova McKinzy has 19 tackles and two sacks, and Kris Frost has 16 tackles. Auburn was punished in polls for their performance against Jacksonville State but they are still nationally ranked.
LSU is 6-13-1 against the spread following a win and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. Auburn is 1-5 against the spread in their last six SEC games, 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games, and 0-7 against the spread in their last seven games. The favorite has covered the point spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
LSU plays conservatively while Auburn is wide open and that style should keep them in this game and keep it close enough for Auburn to cover the spread.
