The South Florida Bulls and Maryland Terrapins square off Saturday at Byrd Stadium.
The South Florida Bulls look to pull off an upset after coming up short last week against FSU. D'Ernest Johnson and Elkanah Dillon have combined for more than 280 receiving yards and five touchdowns while freshman Chris Barr has four receptions. The Maryland Terrapins needs a bounce back win after getting blown out by Bowling Green. Perry Hills is completing 52.9 percent of his passes for 306 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Hills and Caleb Rowe have combined for four picks. Amba Etta-Tawo and D.J. Moore have combined for 135 receiving yards and one touchdown while junior Levern Jacobs has five receptions. The Maryland Terrapins ground game is averaging 248.5 yards per contest, and Brandon Ross leads the way with 160 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Maryland is allowing 34.5 points and 484 yards per game. Jermaine Carter, Jr. leads the Terps with 21 tackles, Quinton Jefferson has four tackles for loss and Jalen Brooks has an interception. Andrew Isaacs and Derwin Gray are questionable with injuries.
The Bulls are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 7-17 ATS in their last 24 games following a ATS win. The Terrapins are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games.
Maryland has looked shaky out the gate, even in its win over Richmond on opening week. Meanwhile, USF hung around with Florida State for a while and is a young, talented team that is slowly gaining confidence. South Florida has some talent on both sides of the ball and would love nothing more than to beat a power five team on the road.
There could be an upset here but just to safe, I’ll gladly take the free points.
