Aggie Memorial Stadium and the New Mexico State Aggies host the Texas El Paso Miners Saturday.
For the second straight game the Texas El Paso Miners have been overmatched on both sides of the ball after suffering through a 69-20 defeat at Texas Tech in week two. The Miners defense couldn’t stop anything in allowing 674 yards while the offense had moderate success in totaling 414 yards although two lost fumbles an eight penalties didn’t help. UTEP did a decent job running the ball behind a 17 carry, 39 yard effort from Aaron Jones who broke free for a 91 yard touchdown jaunt while also catching a pass for six. Mack Leftwich gave the Miners some short gains in the passing attack with 164 yards on 14-22 and a score but nothing to stretch the field.

The New Mexico State Aggies appeared primed to take down visiting Georgia State in week two but couldn’t hold on to the ball and couldn’t get stops. The Aggies lost the yardage battle 582-529 but gave the ball away once, had seven penalties while missing a two point conversion and a game winning field goal. Tyler Rogers gave the Aggies passing attack plenty of punch with 445 yards on 31-55 with three touchdowns and an interception. Tyrain Taylor was the Aggies top target in the air with ten receptions for 206 yards and a pair of scores while Jordan Bergstrom caught six passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Larry Rose II was Aggies ground game with 69 yards on 18 totes and a score but the team did everything but win in the end.
The Miners are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games while the under is 4-0 in Miners last 4 games on grass. The Aggies are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games on grass and the over is 5-0 in Aggies last 5 vs. CUSA while the Aggies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. CUSA. The Miners are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in New Mexico State while the road team is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings. I favor the Miners here who I think have too much of a ground game for New Mexico State…
