Penn State vs. Rutgers - 9/19/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Penn State Nittany Lions look to get above .500 and remain unbeaten at home. Christian Hackenberg is completing 48.1 percent of his passes for 231 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Hackenberg has five touchdown passes in his last four games. Chris Godwin and Geno Lewis have combined for more than 180 receiving yards while sophomore DaeSean Hamilton has the only receiving touchdown. The Penn State Nittany Lions ground game is averaging 140 yards per contest, and Akeel Lynch leads the way with 124 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, PSU is allowing 20.5 points and 295.5 yards per game. Carl Nassib leads the Nittany Lions with 15 tackles, Austin Johnson has 3.5 tackles for loss and Jason Cabinda has two pass deflections. Brandon Bell and Grant Haley are questionable with injuries.

The Scarlet Knights are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Nittany Lions are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a S.U. win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

You guys know how I feel about Penn State, as the offensive line couldn’t block me and the rest of the Sports Chat Place staff. It’s ugly. However, Rutgers has an inconsistent quarterback in its own right and will struggle mightily to move the ball against this PSU defense. I also question the Scarlet Knights banged up secondary.

While it’s the scariest pick for me this week, I see Penn State winning this by double digits. Rutgers has too many holes.
