The Iowa State Cyclones will travel to the Glass Bowl to take on the Toledo Rockets this Saturday evening in College Football action.
The Iowa State Cyclones dropped to 1-1 (0-0 Big 12) after getting defeated 31-17 by the Iowa Hawkeyes this past Saturday afternoon. Iowa State was tied with the Hawkeyes for the majority of the 4th quarter but allowed two TD’s passes with under 2:30 minutes left in the loss. The Cyclones were outgained by the Hawkeyes by a 475-310 margin and was only able to gain 63 yards on the ground. Offensively, leading the way for Iowa State was QB Sam B. Richardson (19 for 35, 247 yds, 2 TD’s). WR’s Jauan Wesley (4 rec, 76 yds, 1 TD) and Allen Lazard (7 rec, 71 yds) had productive games for the Cyclones. The Iowa State defense had trouble controlling the Hawkeye rushing attack as Iowa gained 260 yards on the ground. Iowa State is averaging just 24.0 ppg in their first two contests but their defense has been keeping them in games as they are allowing just 19.0 ppg on 388.5 ypg.

The Toledo Rockets (1-0, 0-0 MAC) opened their season with a shocking 16-12 win against the 18th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks this past Saturday. The Toledo Rockets generally can put up points as good as anyone in college football but it was their defense that was able to hold the Razorbacks to just 12 points even though they outgained the Rockets by a 515-318 margin. Offensively, leading the way for Toledo was QB Phillip Ely who went 21 for 38 for 237 yards and a TD. RB Damion Jones-Moore (11 carries, 68 yds, 1 TD) and WR Corey Jones (8 rec, 61 yds, 1 TD) each had big days in the upset win. The Rockets did a solid job avoiding any major mistakes in the contest and won the turnover battle by a 1-0 margin. The Rockets defense held the Razorbacks to go 5 for 13 on 3rd down and 1 for 3 on 4th down.
The Cyclones are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. MAC and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games in September. The Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
The Toledo Rockets still have one of the better offenses in the MAC and should have arguably the best running back in the conference in Kareem Hunt back after a suspension (suspended 1st two games, should be back even though the first game was cancelled). Iowa State isn't a pushover but they certainly not one of the better teams in the Big 12. I don’t think Iowa State has enough on the defense end to hang around with the Rockets in this one, espically if Hunt is back in the lineup. I think Toledo rides that momentum coming off a huge upset win and covers this spread. Take Toledo to cover.
