The Marshall Thundering Herd look to get back in the win column at the Kent State Golden Flashes.
The Marshall Thundering Herd improved to 2-1 on the season with a 45-7 win against Norfolk state in week three. This was never in doubt with Marshall having their way on both sides of the line of scrimmage with nearly 500 yards of offense and 29 first downs while allowing a mere 191 yards. Quarterback Chase Litton led the Thundering Herd with a near perfect passing attack that went 24-31 for 270 yards and four touchdowns with DeAndre Reaves and Justin Hunt leading the receiving corps with nine catches for 150 yards and three scores. Devon Johnson was Marshall’s man in the ground game with a 22 carry, 122 yard effort with a trip to the end zone as the team averaged five yards per touch.

The Kent State Golden Flashes were given no chance against Minnesota on the road and then promptly gave the Golden Gophers the scare of their lives in a 10-7 defeat as a 24 point underdog. To be sure this wasn’t pretty with Minnesota holding a 288-142 edge in yardage but the Golden Flashes recorded a pair of interceptions and Demetrius Monday returned a fumble 80 yards for their lone touchdown that kept the game winnable. Quarterback Colin Reardon struggled throughout on 10-28 for 63 yards while Nick Holley totaled 58 rushing yards on 17 carries so the defense did it all, especially Monday who also picked off two passes. The biggest play for the offense was Charles Chandler’s 19 yard reception.
The Thundering Herd are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf and the under is 5-1 in Thundering Herd last 6 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game while the over is 4-1 in Thundering Herd last 5 vs. MAC. The Golden Flashes are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games while Kent State are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. I don’t see Marshall as being as good as in 2014 as something seems awry (no Cato?) so I would tread lightly despite a world of talent in green…
