The Auburn Tigers and the San Jose State Spartans face of on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in college football action.
The Auburn Tigers are off to a 2-2 start this season but they have lost their last two games, both to SEC opponents. The Auburn offense just hasn’t been good enough as they are averaging 22 points and 34.2 yards per game and turning the ball over 9 times. Auburn QB Sean White has taken over for an ineffective Jeremy Johnson and he completed 71.4 percent of his passes but threw no touchdowns and had an interception in the loss to Mississippi State. Peyton Barber leads the Auburn rushing attack with 411 yards and a touchdown and Ricardo Lewis is the Tigers top receiver with 16 catches. The Auburn defense has been hung out to dry and they are allowing 26.5 points and 413.5 yards per game with two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and six sacks. Johnathan Ford leads Auburn with 35 tackles, Casanova McKinzy has 32 tackles, and Kris Frost has 31 tackles. Auburn looks like a different team than they were a year ago and not in a good way.

The San Jose State Spartans are coming off of a win against Fresno State and they are 2-2 so far this season. San Jose State’s offense is averaging 32.2 points and 448.2 yards per game and they have turned the ball over five times. SJSU QB Joe Gray has completed 71.8 percent of his passes wit five touchdowns and two interceptions. Tyler Ervin anchors the Spartans rushing attack with a 6.7 yards per carry average and nine touchdowns with 16 receptions and Tyler Winston has 21 receptions and Billy Freeman has 15 receptions. The San Jose State defense is allowing 27 points and 330.8 yards per game with three interceptions, a fumble recovery, and three sacks. Christian Tago has 40 tackles to lead SJSU, Maurice McKnight has 26 tackles, and VIncente Miles has 25 tackles. San Jose State will likely be met by a tough home crowd in this one.
Auburn is 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 games, 0-6 against the spread in their last six home games, and 0-6 against the spread in their last six non-conference games.
I am sure Auburn wants to come up big here but they haven’t shown the have what it takes to make that possible so while the Tigers might win the game, I will take the Spartans to cover with nearly three touchdowns in my back pocket.
